Ogunquit Playhouse Announces 2013 Season

May 22 through October 20, the Ogunquit Playhouse "invites fans to sing, dance, laugh and most of all dream with some of Broadway's most beloved and spectacular shows."

"We are launching our 81st season with one of our most electrifying lineups ever to grace The Playhouse stage," said Ogunquit Playhouse Executive Artistic Director, Bradford Kenney. "We are delighted to bring back for a limited time the two most popular shows in The Playhouse's history - Ballroom with a Twist and Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story. This season is filled with thrills, including fan favorite Sally Struthers returning in what may be her most hysterical and diabolical role ever. And, we are incredibly proud to create the New England Regional premiere of Mel Brook's Young Frankenstein, one of Broadway's most spectacular shows of all time. "

Mark your calendars now and be sure to see every electrifying show this year. Season tickets are on sale now and are the best way to guarantee the best seats for the lowest price starting at only $175 for a 5-show package or $99 for a 3-show package. Individual tickets are on sale exclusively for Ogunquit Playhouse members from March 12 to March 17. Public ticket sales begin March 18. Prices range from $39-$78 per show. To learn more about becoming a member, or to purchase tickets and gift certificates, visit www.ogunquitplayhouse.com or call the Box Office at 207-646-5511.

You'll get a kick out of The Rat Pack is Back!, opening the season from May 22 to June 8. This award winning tribute show brings fans back to the era of Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr., Dean Martin and Joey Bishop at the Sands Hotel's famed Copa Room in Las Vegas. Featuring a combination of pitch-perfect music, a twelve-piece swing orchestra on stage and side-splitting comedy, the show highlights classic songs like "Fly Me To The Moon," "New York, New York," "That's Amore" and many more, as only Frank, Sammy and Dean can perform them.

On stage from June 12 to July 6, Sally Struthers returns in the Tony Award winning Best Musical Thoroughly Modern Millie. It's 1922 and small-town girl, Millie Dillmount, heads to New York City to start a new life. Millie finds herself in a city filled with intrigue, jazz and a whole new set of rules for love! Her new flapper lifestyle encounters trouble when she checks into a hotel owned by a dragon-lady villainess audiences are sure to love to hate - played by none other than Ogunquit's favorite, Sally Struthers. This musical comedy, based on the Mary Tyler Moore, Julie Andrews, Carol Channing film, opened on Broadway in 2002 and garnered 6 Tony Awards including Best Musical. A new glittering set design along with the Tony Award winning costumes will be featured in the Ogunquit production. Musical theatre has found a new heroine for the ages - Thoroughly Modern Millie!

IT'S ALIVE! And it's hilarious! Mel Brooks' Musical Young Frankenstein hits the stage July 10 to July 27. This musical comedy is a wickedly inspired re-imagining of the Frankenstein legend based on Mel Brooks' film masterpiece. The story follows young Dr. Frankenstein (that's Fronkensteen) as he attempts to bring a corpse to life, but not without scary and hilarious complications. Don't miss the kooky cast of characters delivering all your favorite moments from the classic film - hunchback sidekick Igor (that's Eye-gor), curvaceous lab assistant Inga, stern housekeeper Frau Blucher, madcap fiancé Elizabeth and of course, the tap dancing Monster. Ogunquit will recreate the Broadway production complete with the Tony nominated sets by Robin Wagner and the William Ivey Long original costumes. With eye-popping special effects and all new show-stopping numbers including, "The Transylvania Mania," "He Vas My Boyfriend" and "Puttin' On The Ritz," you'll have a monstrously good time!
