Acorn's Fairy Tale Players Presents ONE-EYE, TWO-EYES, THREE-EYES

Acorn Productions kicks off a brand new program this month when the Fairy Tale Players present One-Eye, Two-Eyes, and Three-Eyes from February 26 to March 7 in the Acorn Studio Theater. Acorn Academy Acting faculty member Stephanie Ross adapts and directs an adaptation of The Brothers Grimm's fable of a family whose daughter is mistreated but lives happily ever after with the help of her godfather and a loyal goat. One-Eye, Two-Eyes, and Three-Eyes features 5 students from Acorn's acting classes for kids, along with April Singley, a member of Acorn's Naked Shakespeare Ensemble. Performances take place over two weekends on Friday nights at 7 p.m., Saturdays at 11 a.m., and Sundays at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $5 adults and $3 kids twelve and under. More information is available by contacting Acorn Productions at www.acorn-productions.org or calling 854-0065.

One Eyes, Two Eyes, and Three Eyes is the story of a young girl finding her way in this world. Her path is riddled with very unlikely foes who attempt to break her spirit by bullying her about her different appearance. She is befriended by her godfather who lends her some good advice and bit of magic. Her journey isn't easy, but she stays true to herself, treating others as she wishes to be treated and finding her way not only to freedom and love, but compassion and forgiveness.

Acorn students appearing in the production are Gus Febles, from Westbrook; Isabella Levine, a Peaks Island resident; Angela Moline, from Lyman; Jessica Pittiglio, a North Waterboro resident; and Sophie Sturdee, who lives in Gorham. All of the cast members take acting classes at the Acorn Acting Academy, whose 3 faculty members offer 4 after school sessions each week for kids in grades 2 through 10.

The Acorn Studio Theater is a 40-seat black box space located in the Dana Warp Mill in downtown Westbrook. Acorn Productions is a 501(c)3 organization founded in 1998, and dedicated to increasing awareness of and participation in the performing arts by all members of the community. The inaugural season of the Fairy Tale Players is made possible by a generous grant from the Rines/Thompson Fund administered by the Maine Community Foundation.
